http://live.pirillo.com – I have an original 8GB iPhone, not the iPhone 3G. However, I’m running the new iPhone 2.0 operating system. After playing with it all day, I’m far more excited about the operating system upgrade than I am about the hardware one.

http://live.pirillo.com – Some of you who have been following me over the past week or so have seen me get a bit upset at my iPhone 3G. Well, more to the point, the 2.0 operating system is what I’m mad at. The upgrade seemed like a good thing. However, I’m running into tons of trouble. I’ve had to completely restore it four times already, and am about to have to do it again. I’m completely baffled as to why this keeps happening. Bottomline : Don’t update to firmware 3.1 yet, if you already did….

iPod Touch 1G :
✔ -you’re good to go! use pwnagetool for the mac to jailbreak, or DFU to downgrade in itunes back to 3.0
iPod Touch 2G :
-no 3.1 jailbreak for 2G yet, you can DFU downgrade in itunes back to 3.0
iPod Touch 3G :
-no support at all in jailbreak yet.
iPhone 2G :
✔-you’re good to go! you can unlock and jailbreak in both 3.0 and 3.1 (3.1 mac only using pwnage)
iPhone 3G :
✔-You’re good to JB and Unlock on firmware 3.0! however…there is jailbreak for 3.1 for mac using pwnage. But if you’ve already updated to 3.1 there is currently no unlock yet.
iPhone 3GS :
-This is the tricky one. You can’t downgrade back to firmware 3.0 without a hack. (check the video to see if you are eligible for the hack. See above for guide)
BOTTOMLINE : Don’t update to firmware 3.1, if you have firmware 3.0 or 3.0.1 jailbreak those instead.
