If anything, this indicates that people around the world have truly fallen in love with this device.

Aside from communication, mobile phones have also been of great help in performing work and getting leisure. That’s why a lot of people use them. They can send short messages, place calls, send emails, chat, play games or music, take pictures, record a video, browse the Net, and locate anyone and any place, all using this device.  Hence, it is not surprising that in the survey conducted by the Henley Management Centre and Teleconomy, a good 46% of users (from ages 25 to 34) admitted that they consider their phones as essential parts of their lives.

Because of their ingenious design and specifications, mobile phones have found significant applications in whatever field and process. And as such, have become indispensable modern day equipments. And each of them has their advantages and disadvantages. With so many options, it’s hard not to get overwhelmed; especially if you have not prepared yourself for the process. So in choosing which cell phone to get for you or your loved ones, you have to put these considerations in mind.

Apple, RIM, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Nokia, BlackBerry. GPRS, camera, media player, expandable memory, Bluetooth, WiFi ready. There are currently a lot of mobile phone brands that offer users a number of great mobile phone features. If you are thinking of using your phone for something specific, you should list down the things you would want it to have and be able to do.

Your budget determines your capacity to buy a mobile phone. So always keep in mind when you are thinking about your needs and wants.

c.    Retailer
There are mobile phone shops that provide customers with great purchase deals or discounts and warranties. Seek them out and spare yourself of some cash. Don’t hesitate to refer to the internet. Virtual retailers are actually as good and trustworthy as those with “real world” shops.

Hopefully, with these, you’ll be ready to take the plunge and join the worldwide trend.

With the way things are going, it is plain to see that there are greater possibilities ahead. So we must not hurry at all in trying to keep up with the mobile phone revolution. As consumers, we must learn to weigh the options well and only seek out products that truly satisfy us. And although mobile phones may be convenient and helpful, we must not box ourselves in its use. We are more than these gadgets. Thus, we must not program dependence on them.

There has been plenty of debate as to whether or not cell phones have holistically upgraded our lives. However, in light of their recent damaging reputation, it seems as though cell phones might soon be losing the battle against its detractors.

Despite the numerous criticism against these devices, people don’t seem to waver their support for mobile phones. In fact, as of 2008, there were about 304.7 million mobile phone units sold in the whole world. And that doesn’t even quantify the number of users, which are abundant in all countries. In the United States, 203 million people own and use cell phones. In Australia, the number of mobile phones being utilized even surpasses the entire country’s population. The influence of these inventions is extreme. As proof of this, they have already broken boundaries and transcended culture. Can you imagine what the world would be like if mobile phones were banned for their harmful effects?

Alzheimers and Parkinsons are just some of the diseases being attributed to prolonged cell phone use. But above these, the possibility of getting brain cancer is what most health-conscious individuals worry about their fascination with these gadgets. Mobile phone electromagnetic radiation is said to destroy the protein barrier of the brain and make it susceptible to viruses and toxins. Aside from that, it is also said to destroy red blood cells and cause hemoglobin leaking, which consequently harms the heart and kidney. These harms eventually manifest as an elevated blood pressure and a decrease in the body’s immunity.

On another note, the radiation being released by cell phones are also suggested to cause serious environmental problems. It even has the ability to ignite gasoline fumes, which can cause freak fires. As such, they cannot be used near any refilling stations. Mobile phone use has also been a major predisposing factor to car accidents. And according to a study, phone distractions while driving produce about 200 deaths and a million injuries every year.

With close examination, we can determine that human error is the main perpetrator of these negative events. While it holds true that mobile phones are the ones who posses negative qualities, it is our unregulated use that these become life-threatening. As such, it is our responsibility to get more acquainted with our gadgets and become responsible owners. By using the internet, we can gather enough intelligence to help us live a better, healthier mobile phone using life.

Although this is something that I did not manage to do on purpose it was a complete accident and I am now suffering from it.

Basically I had managed to drop my iPhone onto the floor and then had to rush upstairs for a meeting. Once back from the meeting I had forgotten about the phone so i sat on my chair and slid to my desk. I had hit something had had just pressumed that what I had run over was something useless on the floor. It was certainly not just the floor.

After looking for my phone at a later stage I realised that it was on the floor and picked it up to give it the once over, everything seemed to be working fine until I looked at the back of it. it is impossible to charge the phone as it has cracked just where the charger goes in. Another problem is that I had no way of getting a new one because I didn’t have iPhone insurance.

It would be very hard for me to actually get another phone as I have spend so much time getting used to the iPhone it seems to be the only phone for me now. So it looks like I am going to have to go out and buy another one. Perhaps because I am on contract they will give me a bit of a discount but I can’t see much sympathy coming from them when I haven’t for any insurance of any kind, even that gadget insurance would have sorted me out.

I am now going to go out and get PDA insurance as there is no way I am ever taking this kind of risk again. It is near impossible to actually go out and pay for the things I have recently broken.

Around 88% of people these days don’t even step outside without having their mobile phones with them. Given that most of us rely on these ubiquitous devices every day losing one can be a disaster.

Increasinglly compact and lightweight mobile phones mean that they are easily lost, misplaced or fall out of pockets. In 2008 around 200,000 mobile phones went into washing machines, around 600,000 were dropped down the loo and 55,000 were left in the back of taxis.

We must also consider the very real possibility that a phone may be stolen. More than 2 million mobile phones are stolen in the United Kingdom every year. This means that 1 mobile phone is stolen around every 12 seconds and this worrying trend is on the increase.

If a mobile phone is lost there is the initial financial headache of replacement. But there may also be phone bills accrued by a thief between the time the phone was stolen and the time it was eventually disabled. There are also the problems that can be caused by losing contact details and other data from the phone.

It is estimated that fewer than 2 in 10 mobile phone users keep their phone SIM card data backed up to a separate device. Although modern phones come with software that makes it simple to transfer data to a computer still people don’t take advantage of this simple facility.

So what can we each do to protect ourselves and our valuable data against loss or theft?

  1. The first thing to do is not to make it easy for a thief to steal your mobile phone. Keep it somewhere secure and don’t ever leave it unattended in the car or anywhere else.
  2. Make certain you record the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of your phone. This is a unique number applied to each and every mobile phone that can be used to disable the mobile phone in the event that it is lost or stolen.
  3. Most moble phones can be configured to only operate after a PIN has been entered. While it can be a nuisance to have to enter a PIN each time you want to use your phone this simple step will stop a thief from running up significant call charges on your account.
  4. Another simple step is to switch your phone to vibrate mode when in a busy public place in order to ensure that nobody else is alerted when your phone rings.
  5. You might consider labelling your mobile phone by engraving your name and car registration details onto your phone and its battery. An alternative is to use a system for attaching unique serial number stickers (as provided by trackitback.com) to your mobile phone as this will help identify the phone if it is lost or stolen.
  6. It is worthwhile getting into the habit of backing up your SIM card data frequently. As a general rule you should back up your phone data as often as possible which should be every day if you are updating your contacts or appointments every day.
  7. Finally, make certain that you have some mobile phone insurance that provides the protection that you need. There are differences between various mobile phone insurance policies so be certain to read the small print and ensure that the policy suits your requirements.

Hopefully you and your mobile phone will not become one of the future lost or stolen statistics.
